Arrima, a New Online Portal now open, Submit Expression Of Interest

Posted on September 19, 2018

On 18th September this year, Quebec immigration released a new online Portal, Arrima for Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP).  Interested candidates aiming for Canadian Permanent Residency through QSWP can now express their interest to the Government of Quebec by creating a profile using the above portal.

The Province’s Department of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion (MIDI) designed the invitation system like a management tool. This will help maintain a continuous flow of new Quebec Immigration Skilled Workers whose profile meets the labour needs of Quebec businesses.

In the month of August, the Government of Quebec moved to Expression of Interest (EOI) system for the QSWP.

For EOI system, interested candidates must not only create a profile, but they are also required to offer essential information about their area of training, education, work experience and proficiency in French and other languages, among other details.

MIDI stated, it will issue an invitation to all who meet specific criteria focusing majorly on labour market needs in varied regions of Quebec.  The candidates who have got an invite would be able to apply to the Quebec Government for a Quebec Selection Certificate.

Who can apply?

Previously for QSWP, first come, first-served model was used, but presently for Arrima there exists no cap on the number of candidates entering QSWP bank.

Anyone can submit their profile provided their age is 18 years and above. However, to be eligible for selection, the candidates are required to meet the passing score for employability and selection factors in accordance with the Quebec Skilled Worker Program point’s grid.

MIDI has offered only limited information as to how individuals would be ranked in the QSWP bank of Candidates. It has also indicated that there would be a ranking system, but it is not known if it would be similar to the federal Express Entry System’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

How it works?

Candidates are required to enter a virtual waiting room and they need to wait until they are notified of their turn to access the portal.

Once the access has been provided, the users would have about 90 minutes in the portal. MIDI recommends, candidates to keep on saving frequently so that they avoid loss of information submitted up to that point in case session which lasts up to 90 minutes expires.

The candidates would be offered 30 days to complete their profile and it would remain valid for 1 year.

The existing candidates in the EOI pool can anytime update their profile with new information or they can also revise the existing information during the 1 year validity period.

All those who got an invite from Quebec to apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate will have 90 days to submit a complete application.
