Indian government aims to encourage Meetings Incentives, Conferences Exhibition (MICE)- soon to extend e-visa facility for conference delegates

The columns of the Financial Express- a prominent business newspaper, highlight the news of the Indian government possibly extending the e-visa facility for conference delegates associated to MICE. As of the news, Indian government aims to encourage Meetings Incentives, Conferences Exhibition (MICE) by extending the e-visa facility. One of the senior official associated with this initiative said that while India offered world-class MICE facilities across the country, there is a need to create an awareness about the segment and simultaneously provide end to end solutions. On a global level, the MICE segment, with a 54 percent of a market share has eventually overtaken the traditional business trips segment as over 11,000 large-scale meetings have been organized across the world, most of which were organized in renowned countries like Germany, Spain, UK, France and the United States of America.

At the first edition of the Global MICE Travel Mart (GMTM) – an exclusive MICE inbound Tourism platform in India- jointly organized by FICCI, Tourism Ministry and the ICPB, Mr. Suman Billa (Joint Secretary in Tourism Ministry said, “The e-visa for the delegates would soon become a reality as the government was aware that e-visas would enable Meetings Incentives, Conferences Exhibition (MICE) tourism to thrive.”
