Manitoba province has welcomed more than 130,000 immigrants, since its inception in the year 1998. Now the above province is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its pioneering Provincial Nominee Program.
By introducing the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program or MPNP, the above province was 1st in Canada to nominate newcomers for Canada Permanent Residence(PR) through varied streams tailored to fit its economic needs as well as priorities.
Most Canadian Provinces and territories have followed the same pathway as Manitoba and they now have a Provincial Nominee Program or PNP of their own. Quebec is the only province, which has a separate Immigration Agreement with Canada’s Federal Government.
Manitoba Experiences Economic Growth and increase in population
From 1998, the MPNP program has been successfully implemented and it has been the main driving force for net positive population growth which the above province experienced since 2006.
The province stated that its GDP would be 30% less today without the economic benefits offered by the immigration boom created by the MPNP. The immigrants entering Manitoba under business streams have invested above $308 million in the province.
As per the province, an impressive 90% of the immigrants entering the province got employed within a year and almost the same percentages of them stayed in the province.
Since past 20 years, the above province has been continuously fine-tuning the MPNP, in the year 2001, it has introduced the nomination stream for business immigrants and years that followed it added new skilled worker streams to the list.
In November 2017 the innovation reached the highest point with a complete overhaul of the MPNP. The major part of the renewal program was the division of its Skilled Worker Overseas Program into two immigration sub-streams. It includes the one aligned with the Federal Express Entry System.
In the year, 2015 Express Entry Program was introduced, it manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three major economic immigration categories they are
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
- Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Manitoba’s Express Entry Stream enables the above province to nominate candidates for Express Entry candidates who have a strong connection with Manitoba and have work experience in an occupation which the province considers in demand, among other criteria.
In 2018 in the month of January, the stream became active and the MPNP has issued nearing to 1155 invitations to apply for Provincial Nomination to the eligible Express Entry Candidates.
