Posted on November 2, 2018

The Manitoba province has launched two different fast-track immigration pathways for foreign graduates of postsecondary institutions in the above province.

One year back, two pathways were created and they formed the part of the Manitoba PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) renewal program. The pathways formed were Graduate Internship Stream and International Student Entrepreneur Stream.

In the year, 1998 Manitoba PNP came into existence for the very first time and it is a popular program. Since its launch till now, this program has welcomed over 130,000 new entrants.

The International Student Entrepreneur stream is for overseas graduates who have completed at least 2-year program in the Manitoba province post-secondary institution and they must be willing to set-up as well as run a business in this province. They would also be required to make investments.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program enables the province to nominate a specific number of aspiring immigration candidates for Canada PR every year.

Manitoba Government said, selected candidates through International Student Entrepreneur pathway would get a work permit (temporary) as a part the 2-year pilot program.

The Graduate Internship Pathway is for overseas students who have completed either a Doctoral or Master’s degree in a university, located in the Manitoba province within the past three years with an eligible internship.

The Internship candidates of Elevate and Accelerate organized through Mitacs, a non-profit organization, are eligible. The qualified candidates not only help connect industries and universities across the Maple leaf nation but also help connect internationally eligible research and industrial enterprises.

All aspiring students who have met the eligibility criteria of the pathways can apply to the Manitoba PNP after completing their graduation, a job offer from a Manitoba employer is not mandatory.

Kelvin Goertzen, Manitoba Education and Training Minister stated, the reasons for the formation of two different pathways are to attract and retain both entrepreneur and innovators across the world.

The international students bring along with them, global connections, new ideas and entrepreneurial spirit. All the above, help create new opportunities for self and also improve the province to become more innovative and competitive than earlier.
