Manitoba, one of the main provinces in Canada, issued 5,207 invitations in 2018. 98% among the invited candidates were from the skilled worker stream. According to the recently published report from the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), it shows that 5,119 candidates among the 5,207 were from the skilled workers in Manitoba and the Skilled Worker Overseas stream. The remaining 88 invitations went to the Business investor stream.
The MPNP is the part of the Provincial Nominee Program. This program allows Canadian territories and provinces to nominate a particular number of candidates to settle and work there. The MPNP is the oldest and most popular PNP programs. It has completed its 20 years of operation in 2018. About 130,000 migrants have settled in Manitoba through this program. Among the invited candidates, 21% came on family sponsorships and did not have any job offers.
Around 3,399 invitations were issues to candidates under the skilled workers in Manitoba stream and 1,720 were issued to candidates from skilled overseas worker stream. The MPNP also confirmed that 535 of the chosen candidates had their profile in the Express Entry. The Express Entry System manages three different streams- Federal skilled worker class, Federal Skilled Trade Class and Canadian Experience Class. The MPNP also pushed out the Express Entry-aligned pathway in 2018. The candidates having work experience in a skill which is on high-demand on the Manitoba In-demand occupation list have a higher chance to get the invitation.
Indians received the highest number of invitations, 34.2% (1,780) followed by China 15.8% (825. The workers with skills and experience in Sales and Service sector got the highest number of invites (1.885) followed by candidates with experience in business, finance and administrative roles. 1,847 nominates went to the skilled mention as ‘B’ in the National Occupation Classification (NOC). 1,659 were offered to people with skills under level ‘C’.

Around 79% of the candidates nominated in 2018 had a job offer. The number has increased by around 51.2 % from 2017. There was also an increase in the number of applicants who have completed their post-graduation in Manitoba.
