Aiming to attract more Indian students to pursue a high-quality education in New Zealand, the Education New Zealand (ENZ) has launched an initiative by the name- Welcome 2 New Zealand. The Indian student crowd makes up the second largest community that chooses New Zealand for their education. This initiative introduced specially for Indian students not only benefits the students but also offers a platform for the New Zealand government agencies of India to interact and guide the local education consultants and agents. At the launch of this initiative, Ms. Joaanna Kemperkers, the New Zealand High Commissioner to India, stated “India has played a pivotal role in developing a diverse and multicultural pool of students on our campuses. With more than 25,000 Indian students choosing New Zealand for higher education in 2016, we want to continue to welcome Indian students to our world-class institutions, and to live in our safe and welcoming country.”
Simultaneously, the Education department of New Zealand has been heavily investing in its education system to attract more Indians. The results of this investment have been significantly improving and can be estimated by the increase in the student number choosing New Zealand- which is 53% more this year comparatively to last year. One of the reasons students are showing an increasing interest in New Zealand is the high-quality education & the secure and friendly environment the country provides for the foreign students. Another major reason for why more Indian students are choosing New Zealand is all the Universities of New Zealand have been ranked in the top 3% of Universities worldwide- much higher than the Universities of the United States and the United Kingdom.
To continue to attract more Indian students to study in New Zealand, ENZ aims to introduce more initiatives which will majorly focus on scholarship benefits, specialist streams, short-term internship etc.
