Are you in a plan to migrate to Australia in 2019-2021? Then, get started; the Occupation ceilings for the year 2019-2021 have been announced. Every year, a huge number of immigrants from all over the world set their applications for Australia’s Skilled Migration Programs based on Australia’s Skilled Occupation List (SOL).
The SOL is updated by the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA) at regular periods. Presently, the list has over 200 occupations. However, there is always a limit stated for the invites / the “Expression of Interest” (EOI) issued for an occupation. This limit set for an occupation is known as Occupation Ceilings.
The occupation ceilings have a vital role in making a skilled worker understand the demand for occupation. Based on the number of ceilings issued for an occupation, one can easily trigger out which is in-demand occupation and low-demand occupation.
The DoHA explains that the occupation ceiling ensures for not dominating with the skilled migration programs. Also, once the limit which has been set is reached, no invitations will be issued in the year for that particular skilled occupation.
The DoHA further explains that “Invitations will then be allocated to intending migrants in other occupation groups even if they are lower ranking.”
Though Australia has decreased its migration program in 2019-2021, there isn’t much difference experienced in the ceilings announced. However, these numbers do not state in receiving the stated invitations. It is advised for not considering the ceiling numbers as the same for the invitations.
