Posted on November 16, 2018

During an approach with SBS News, David Coleman, the Immigration Minister has stated that the government of Australia have not made any choice still, on the count of Australia PR acceptance for the coming year – 2019-2020.

Since the year 2011, each year cap was set to 190,000 for both Coalition and Labor governments. But, the Australia Immigration intake was observed lowest in the year 2017-2018 as it resulted 163,000 PR intakes only.

Further referring to the report of “Daily Telegraph”, Peter Dutton – the Minister of Home Affairs was subjected for working on the execution to reduce the formal ceiling by 30,000 places such that the absolute intake will be reflected roughly from the previous year’s intake.

In addition, the SBS News approached the chief’s Mr. Coleman and Mr. Dutton for detailed report. And, the spokeswoman of Mr. Coleman stated that “A decision on the 2019-2020 planning levels has not yet been taken”.

Hence, there is no resolution made for the 2019-2020 cap. It may be set in action, only after conducting an Official Annual Consultation along with the employer groups, stakeholders and states.

Moreover, the Minister added that the process may be under consideration, once, there is a clear picture received about the “Australia’s needs” and the “needs of the regions”, as there are plans for diverting skilled workers to non-metro places.

As targeted, 190,000 Australia PR intake is completely for the aspirants under the Family Visas and Australia Skilled Worker Visa.
