The H-4 visa is for immediate or close family members of H-1B visa holders. Spouse of the employee and children whose age is less than 21 years are eligible for this visa.

The DHS (Department of Homeland Security) stated that the US citizenship would bring a new proposal by the start of 2019 through which it intends to remove specific regulations relating to H-4 spouses of H1-B visa holders as a class of aliens permitted for employment authorization.

This new rules will impact nearing to 70,000 H-4 visa holders who have got work permits.

The USCIS has written a letter to two senators, Kirsten Gillibrand and Kamala Harris. However, it does not talk about any commitment with regards to the fate of the decision on revoking the work authorization to H-4 visas, except DHS stating that, it is committed to safeguarding and protecting the wages, and immigration system integrity.

The two lawmakers have requested not to revoke work authorization to H-4 visa.
